Zebra Slot Canyon is a beautifully colored water-carved twisting slot canyon with pink and white striped Navajo Sandstone walls. This canyon is a photographer’s paradise! The canyon is short and involves some scrambling over obstacles but the farther you go back the more beautiful it becomes.
The gorgeous 5.3 mile round trip hike is very scenic with sculpted ancient sand dunes that are reminiscent of Zion National Park, the scenery alone before the canyon is worth the trip!
Parts of the slot canyon are pretty tight and not suited to larger hikers. Those with claustrophobia may not appreciate some of the tighter spots in the canyon, but those willing to shimmy through tight spaces and scramble some pretty easy obstacles will be rewarded with an amazing memory of a special place. At certain times there may be pools of water you have to wade through.
The drive to and from the hike goes along Utah’s world-famous Scenic By-Way 12 with incomparable views of sandstone deserts, mountains and canyons. We’ll stop along the way and take in the stunning views and talk about the geology and history of the area. The drive continues down Hole in The Rock Road to our destination.
